Stress Distribution in an Elastic Rod Subjected to Initial Tip Displacement

This study presents computational method to examine the displacement and stress distribution within an elastic rod made of different materials. Steel, aluminum alloys titanium have been widely used in many engineering fields such as automotive, aerospace, energy medical applications. Hence, dynamic distributions rods manufactured by these materials has a crucial importance. In order obtain stress, wave propagation problem is modeled based on one dimensional (1-D) equation. Boundary conditions are assumed fixed-free, subjected tip at free end, initially. Analytical solution performed means separation variables, natural frequencies found. Computational developed discretization equation space time parameters utilizing explicit scheme. Displacement obtained computationally. Analytically computationally results compared, excellent agreement achieved. Then, parametric analyses conducted influences time, level load material type distributions.
